Boundaries Are Not Abandonment

Sydney’s conversation explores a difficult truth: loving someone should not require abandoning yourself.
A boundary is not a punishment or a demand that another person change. It is a clear statement about what you will participate in, what you need to remain healthy, and what action you will take when a line is crossed.
Without emotional awareness, discomfort often becomes blame. Anger may be covering fear. Control may be covering uncertainty. Withdrawal may be protecting an old wound.
Sitting with an emotion does not mean obeying it. It creates enough space to understand what the feeling is trying to communicate before it becomes a reaction that harms the relationship.
Healthy love makes room for two complete people. If peace can exist only when one person becomes smaller, silent, or less honest, it is not peace.
